The information reported within this online application will become part of your child's cumulative school record. Student record information will not be released to third parties or used for purposes other than routine daily and/or emergency contact needs without the knowledge or permission of parents, legal guardians, or students who have passed their eighteenth birthday, except in accordance with the law.

Only a parent or legal guardian may enroll a student in Richmond County Schools. Proof of Guardianship can include a birth certificate, divorce papers, Social Services paperwork, or paperwork signed by a judge awarding custody.

All applications will be processed electronically and checked for accuracy. Any falsification of information may result in your application not being processed and/or denied.

Requirements for Enrollment


Enrollment forms should be submitted directly to the home school. In compliance with North Carolina law, students must be 5 years of age on or before August 31 to be considered for Kindergarten. Students applying for any Pre-K program must be 4 years of age on or before August 31.

The following documents are required for enrollment:

      Proof of Date of Birth and Legal Name
      Proof of Residency
      Records Request (if applicable)

The following documents are required by the 30th day of school:

      Current Immunization Record
      NC Health Assessment Form (for all new Pre-K and Kindergarten students)

In compliance with the North Carolina law, parents/guardian must present certification of immunizations on the first day of school entry. If documentation is not presented, parents and/or guardians have 30 calendar days to provide documentation or the student shall be excluded from school until proof is presented.


Before any student is assigned to attend Richmond County Schools, the student’s parent, legal guardian or sponsor (legal guardian and sponsorship requires additional documentation from a court or agency) must provide proof of date of birth and legal name and legal residence in Richmond County.

For Proof of Date of Birth and Legal Name


One (1) of the following documents must be shown:

      Original or Photocopy of Birth Certificate
      Passport
      Baptismal or Church Certificate
      Physician Certificate of Birth
      Student’s Driver’s License
      Previously Verified School Records

For Proof of Residency


Two (2) of the following documents must be shown:

      Copy of residential deed OR record of most recent residential mortgage statement
      HUD Closing Statement
      Any ONE utility bill or work order dated within the past 30 days including: gas, water, electric

     (cell phone bills are NOT accepted as proof of residency)

      Notarized Residency Affidavit from homeowner/leaseholder affirming tenancy
      Copy of Residential Lease

Note This residency policy does NOT apply to homeless students, as defined in the McKinney-Vento Act.
